Wyckoff Analytics is delighted to welcome back our colleague and fellow Wyckoffian, Gary Fullett!  Always a lively and enthusiastic speaker, Gary will be presenting one of his favorite topics: how he applies the Wyckoff Method to tape reading.

The term “tape reading” refers to a bygone era when traders identified order flow in stock transactions from a continuous stream of price and volume quotes printed on a paper “ticker tape.” Knowledgeable tape readers could “see” buying and selling pressures created by large market operators and anticipate which direction prices were headed.

Electronic bar charts allow tape readers today to better visualize and exploit order flow than in the past. Gary is one of the most skilled and experienced practitioners of this art; we are very fortunate in that he intends to present his entire approach to tape reading with Wyckoff.

In these two sessions Gary will demonstrate how to:

Apply the three principal Wyckoff laws — (1) Supply and Demand, (2) Effort vs Result, and (3) Cause and Effect — to tape reading.  He will particularly emphasize Effort vs Result, which is arguably the most important analytical tool for evaluating institutional market operations and intentions, and for planning or revising your trading tactics accordingly.

Select trades based on Tape Reading. He will show how to analyze and take advantage of specific Wyckoff market structures with tape reading techniques, allowing more precisely timed entries and exits.  Gary will demonstrate those points on the chart landscape where a deep understanding of price and volume behavior can give traders a critical edge, as well as when and where these considerations are of less importance.

Use Tape Reading in the context of strength or weakness of markets. This discussion will cover how and why certain markets tend to lead or lag.  Gary will illustrate how to identify and interpret when large institutions are probing the market for a pending move as they accumulate or distribute their positions, and how to capitalize on this information.
